Steel fiber
Concrete is fragile: after achievement of a ultimate load takes place sudden destruction. Addition of steel fiber in concrete sharply improves strength properties of concrete, that is the product from steel-fibro-concrete does not burst, until will not be subjected to higher deformation. For the first time interest to steel-fibro-concrete in the world has become aggravated in 1962 when Romaldy (USA) has managed considerably to increase durability of concrete by addition of direct steel fibers.
It has led to to the accelerated scientific researches of properties of the concrete reinforced by steel fiber and to the first examples of practical use which has been carried out in the beginning of 70th years.
The application of a fiber, in the majority of the cases, has significant advantages over the traditionally reinforced concrete. Steel fiber, being evenly distributed in the concrete, forms the three-dimensional primary structure, which makes it possible to maintain the many-sided stretching efforts and it prevents the disclosure of the microscopic cracks, which are formed from the action of the majority of load efforts and moistening of concrete.
The production of steel-fibro-concrete structures essentially reduces or completely excludes rebar placement. That allows to reduce labor input up to 40 % and lower volumes of used building materials by cubic meter of finished product. Besides steel-fibro-concrete higher physicomechanical characteristics allow to reduce structure weight from 15 - 20 % and up to 5-10 times.
